byu means a mysterious grace felt rather than seen, a zen saying rooted in ‘yugen’. It conveys a sense of quiet, poetic wonder that flows spontaneously through our everyday lives. 

Founded in 2024 by Su Hui Lim, byu is an independent fashion label based in Singapore. Redefining elegance through ordinary silhouettes, byu collections provide simple yet sophisticated clothing that re-enchants the everyday wardrobe through different phases of a woman's life.  Each collection repurposes pre-existing materials and natural fibres, down to using cotton-only sewing thread. These inspiration are captured through a personal lens and reflection. Born and raised in Singapore, Lim studied Fashion Design at LASALLE College of the Arts, where she began her dedication towards zero-waste pattern-making. After graduating, Lim was honoured with the Harper’s BAZAAR NewGen Award 2023 for her collection, ‘Homeland’. Her innovative approach has garnered recognition for infusing Singapore’s iconic spaces into her design narrative while minimising waste creatively, leading to the launch of her label, byu.
